Moving Balkans Open Call for Artists (Showcase 2026)
Deadline for application: 10 July 2025 at 23:59 CET
After the successful first edition of the Moving Balkans Contemporary Dance Showcase, held in Ljubljana (Slovenia), Rijeka (Croatia) and Zagreb (Croatia) between 10–13 May 2025, the second edition of the showcase will be held in Novi Sad (Serbia) from 13–16 May 2026. The festival will present 10 contemporary dance productions, and 6 Dance Scape project pitches, and offer opportunities to meet, exchange ideas, interact with the audience and dance professionals, and become part of a large artistic network.

The applications must be submitted via Google Forms by 10 July 2025 at 23:59 CET.

Moving Balkans Contemporary Dance Platform is a new and dynamic collaboration of dance professionals from across the Balkans, established at the beginning of 2024. The mission of the platform is to elevate contemporary dance in the region and position it competitively within Europe. Through a regional partnership network, showcase festivals, initiatives promoting artist mobility, workshops, co-creations, and capacity-building activities, it aims to empower dance professionals and raise awareness of the vibrant and diverse dance scene flourishing in the Balkans. At the heart of the platform are esteemed international partners, each playing a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of contemporary dance in the region. In alphabetical order, the main partners are: Albania Dance Meeting (AL), Art Link Foundation (BG), Contemporary Dance Association Slovenia (SI), Croatian Cultural Center Rijeka (HR), Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance (HR), DAN.C.CE UNITIVA (GR), EN–KNAP Productions (SI), Interart Culture Center (MK), Kino Šiška Centre for Urban Culture (SI), The National Center for Dance Bucharest (RO), Students’ Cultural Center Novi Sad (RS). Together, we are united in our commitment to fostering creativity, collaboration, and innovation in the realm of contemporary dance throughout the Balkans and beyond. The project is co-funded by the European Union.
